Well, it's been a minute since I've posted here. About half of you also follow me on Fictional Influence, so you know I haven’t been idle. But you may notknow I've been heads-down working on something special.
I think is going to be worth the wait.
Remember when I teased The Twitter Crush back in June? The thriller about the ghostwriter behind feminist bestsellers who discovers his latest client might be making her critics literally disappear?
It's ready. And I'm doing something different this time.
Going Serial
Starting Wednesday, August 6th, I'm releasing The Twitter Crush as a weekly serial right here on Serial Journeys. Four chapters every Wednesday for 10 weeks. Unlike my ill-gotten attempt to pants my way through Treason of Fate, there won’t be any skipped weeks or any delays. Just weekly drops of a complete thriller.
And it’s DESIGNED to be a serial. Not only are the chapters short, it’s also written in an epistle style. If you normally read on the Substack app, you’ll enjoy reading The Twitter Crush the same way. Browser? Also an awesome experience.
Everything about the story (and the format) is designed to respect your time and keep you looking forward to the next installment.
What You're Getting Into
I know I cut my teeth on paranormal mysteries and spec fic, but that’s not what this one will be. The Twitter Crush is a straight-up psychological thriller with some very dark turns. Jackson Reed might be the guy you love to hate or he might be the guy you straight up hate. Even main characters are people, with all the flaws that implies.
There's violence, moral ambiguity, and characters who do terrible things for reasons that almost make sense. You might even end up rooting for the villain sometimes.
Don’t worry, I don’t judge.
If you're here for lighter fare, that's totally fine – but this probably isn't for you, and I'd rather you know that upfront than waste your time.
Starting Tuesday
The first four chapters drop Wednesday, August 6th. Then every Wednesday after that for the next nine weeks. Set a reminder, add it to your calendar, whatever works.
Because all chapters will go behind the paywall after 7 days.
And if this sounds like something you definitely don't want cluttering up your inbox for the next 10 weeks? No hard feelings. The unsubscribe button is right there, and I won't take it personally. I'd rather have 50 engaged readers than 500 people who just don’t want to hurt my feelings.
But if you're ready for something that'll make your Wednesday commute more interesting, stick around.
The Twitter Crush starts in one week. Check it out HERE.
What do you think? Ready for a 10-week ride, or should I have stuck with paranormal romance? Let me know.
I’m ready. I love the approach. You will be copied.
You've sold it well, I'm very excited for this story!
